7 things to consider when installing a wine cooler

1. What height are your kitchen cabinet doors?

You achieve a more aesthetically pleasing, harmonious look in your kitchen if your wine cooler is the same height as your cabinets. We are one of the few suppliers to offer wine coolers with a choice of door heights to match kitchens from Magnet, Neptune Kitchens, Ikea and other makes. If you are unsure which wine cooler is best for your kitchen, contact our expert sales team and they’ll help you find what you need!

2. Is ventilation important?

Yes. Built-in wine coolers vent from the front and integrated wine coolers vent from the back. Study the installation diagram or watch the videos below to determine how much space your wine cooler needs and where that space should be. Useful tip: If you have a front-venting wine cooler, you can fit your own plinth in front of it provided the plinth has ventilation holes. Sleek, seamless and stylish!
2. Is ventilation important?

3. Choose a wine cooler with a hinge that is set into the door!

The hinge on many wine coolers is mounted on top of the door, which rather spoils the aesthetic look when the cooler is built in. If you want the cooler to blend seamlessly with the rest of your kitchen, we therefore suggest you choose one with an inset hinge. Most of the wine coolers we sell at Myoutdoorkitchen.dk have this feature.

4. Do not forget to buy a drip tray!

Some insurance companies require you to have a leak guard installed underneath your white goods in case they leak. We have drip trays for all our built-in and integrated wine coolers. It could be a very wise investment!

5. Is there a power socket close by?

Most wine coolers have a 1.8 metre power cable. It is always better to plug the cooler directly into the wall rather than use an extension lead, which might affect the performance of the cooler.

6. Don’t forget the opening angle!

You must remember to allow space for the wine cooler’s door to swing open. In other words, there has to be enough room at the sides to allow the door to open fully. So be sure to study the installation diagram carefully before you start. You can also look at coolers with hinges that are designed specifically to avoid this problem - you’ll find several in the mQuvée range.

7. Is the framework stable enough?

If you are fitting a wine cooler into a tall cabinet, it is important to make sure it is stable enough to support the weight of the cooler. Please watch our video below which explains how to install integrated wine coolers. Is there anything else you want to know after you’ve watched it? Don’t hesitate to contact us. We’ll be pleased to help in any way we can!

Installation of integrated wine coolers

Installing an integrated wine cooler is similar to installing a built-in oven. These models have vents at the back and the unit in which an integrated wine cooler is placed must be strong enough to support its fully loaded weight.

Installation of built-in wine coolers

Remember that built-in wine cooler vent from the front and it is important to ensure that there is an adequate flow of air to the cooling system.
